About Us

Our Pre-school provides a safe, stimulating and caring environment for all children independent of their social, cultural and religious heritage.

The equipment and facilities provided by the Pre-school are thanks to the efforts of the parents and local community. Parent and carers of children at the Pre-school play an important role in helping to maintain it as an enjoyable environment for all children to learn and develop.

Our Vision

Our key aim is to:

Enhance the development of children in a fun, safe and stimulating environment whilst delivering the statutory framework for Early Years Foundation Stage within an inclusive setting.

The Northern Lights Preschool is a safe and stimulating place for your child to grow and develop. We are committed to helping every child lay the foundations that will allow them to have the best possible start in life that they deserve.

We believe it is our responsibility as caring adults to support the academic, social and health needs of all children independent of their socio-economic, religious and cultural heritages, providing them the resources they need to fulfil their potential and become upstanding citizens of the future.

EYFS Guiding Principles

Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.
Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates according to their abilities. (Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage).

We hope to be an outstanding Early Years Provider that adopts a holistic approach to every child’s unique development.

We will achieve this by:

  • Believing in the potential for every child to succeed.
  • Constantly seeking ways to improve our provision.
  • Involving parents and children in developing a stimulating curriculum.
  • Working in partnership with other agencies.
  • Tracking and monitoring progress according to the EYFS.
  • Modifying unacceptable attitudes and behaviour.
  • Recognising, celebrating and rewarding achievements.
  • Providing quality resources in a stimulating environment.
