Enrichment Activities

We plan a wide variety of enrichment experiences for our children throughout the year. Some are based on children’s current interests to extend their learning, some are designed to ignite new interests and introduce new experiences, and others help us strengthen our role within the wider community.

Children travel in a range of ways including on foot, by public bus, train, taxi, and minibus, helping them experience different forms of transport and develop confidence in the wider world.

Examples of enrichment experiences include:

  • Visits to Kings Cross Library and the town centre library
  • Walks around The Piece Hall
  • Visits to the Jubilee Centre, including the Outback and Sensory Room
  • Music sessions including stories, songs, rhymes, and dance
  • Early language learning opportunities in French and Arabic (greetings, colours, days of the week, counting)
  • Mini first aid sessions
  • Cooking activities such as making fruit salad, porridge, pancakes, and cupcakes, helping children develop life skills and an understanding of food
  • Visits to Manor Heath Park for picnics and outdoor learning
  • Visits to Jungle Experience, farms, and other animal-related settings
  • Shopping trips to local shops to support maths skills and community involvement
  • Special events such as stay-and-play sessions and fundraising days (including Mencap and Brake Road Safety campaigns)
  • Visits to local establishments such as WHSmith, the Post Office, and the Jubilee Centre sensory room
  • Visitors to preschool including dentists, police officers, doctors, opticians, farmers, and Lion Learners
  • Science experiences such as hatching butterflies
  • Educational visits to Eureka! Museum, Pondarosa Zoo, Play Palace indoor gym, Playtopia, and Tropical World (Leeds)

These experiences provide a rich and varied extension to children’s learning. They help develop cultural capital, build confidence, and strengthen meaningful links with parents, carers, families, and the wider community.
